Kentuckians could sue Gov. Andy Beshear over a gold and silver sales tax

Follow up on Kentucky considers bill to entice gold and silver investors

House Bill 2, introduced last week by Rep. T.J. Roberts, R-Burlington, and backed by several other GOP representatives, would void a controversial line-item budget veto by Beshear last year that prevented state lawmakers from exempting “bullion currency” — or gold and silver coins — from taxation.

The proposed bill would also give people who have paid sales taxes on gold and silver since August — when the exemption was set to take effect — the power to use the courts to seek a refund along with $1,000 for “each day that the violation occurred,” paid by the governor’s office.

Follow up on Stolen Gold Toilet from art exhibit at Blenheim Palace, in Oxfordshire

There is no evidence a man on trial in connection with the theft of a £4.8m golden toilet knew the gold he was dealing with was stolen, a jury has been told.

The prosecution said the 41-year-old’s decision not to give evidence meant he failed to answer a number of questions, including what the gold looked like when it was delivered to his jewellers in Hatton Garden.

    Australian gold reinvigorated

Australia has not escaped the threat of increased tariffs on its exports to the U.S., but it does have one world-class industry which is reveling in commodity market confusion, gold.

Both Citi and RBC Capital Markets see the gold price continuing to rise while the Resources Department of the Australian Government is forecasting an increase in national output from 286 tons this year to 309 tons next year, cementing Australia’s position as the world’s third biggest gold producer after Russia and China.

Gold’s rise in U.S. dollars is magnified in Australia by the currency effect with an exchange current rate of US63 cents delivering an Australian gold price of A$4903/oz, a record which easily eclipses all earlier gold booms.
