Ghana gold output to increase

Ghana’s gold production could increase by around 6.25% to approximately 5.1 million ounces in 2025, up from last year’s record output of 4.8 million ounces, the Chamber of Mines in Africa’s top gold-producing nation said on Friday.

“We project gold output to range between 4.4 and 5.1 million ounces, buoyed by increased contributions from Newmont’s Ahafo South Mine and Shandong’s Namdini Mine,” Chamber of Mines President Michael Akafia said at an annual gathering in the capital Accra.

“We’re looking at about 30% to 40% more production than the previous year,” the general secretary of the group, Godwin Armah, told Reuters.

A man has denied knowing gold he was trying to help someone sell came from a golden toilet stolen at Blenheim Palace.

Fred Doe admitted putting James Sheen, who has previously pleaded guilty to stealing the toilet, in touch with gold dealer Bora Guccuk but said he would “never in a million years” have dealt with him if he had known it was stolen.

Mr Jones, 39, from Oxford, Mr Doe, previously known as Frederick Sines, 36, from Windsor, and 41-year-old Mr Guccuk, from west London, have all pleaded not guilty to the charges they face.

The trial is still ongoing. Wow! And the “jurors heard the toilet was most likely broken up and has never been recovered.” How will they prosecute these thieves? Will they get prosecuted? Do they have enough evidence? So many questions! I’ll keep this updated. – V.

The US is moving towards sound money movement

“Everything else that could function as money has been saddled with taxes and disincentives,” Jp Cortez explained, emphasizing how the current monetary system traps people in the Federal Reserve’s fiat currency.

“Ten years ago, only a handful of states were considering sound money policies. Last year, more than 27 states introduced over 65 bills related to sound money.”

Copper futures up, copper market awaits investigation

Copper, yet to be included in Donald Trump’s widening list of tariff-hit products, continues to rally on the assumption that it is just a matter of time, Saxo Bank said in a note, as it sees a sooner-than-expected tightening of the global market.

Copper futures (HG1:COM) are up 2.8% so far this week, and 6.3% for the month.

The copper market is still awaiting the result of an investigation carried out under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act.

“As such an investigation normally takes months to be completed, it has left the door wide open for a massive profitable arbitrage between international prices and those in the U.S. being reflected through the High Grade futures contract in New York.”

    Gold eases, silver up .4%

Gold eased on Monday as the dollar held firm, while market participants remained cautious, watching for any potential Iranian retaliation to U.S. strikes on its nuclear sites.

Spot gold was down 0.2% at $3,359.99 an ounce, as of 0820 GMT. U.S. gold futures fell 0.3% to $3,375.20.

Higher energy prices could potentially delay a Fed rate cut and strengthen the dollar, said Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank.

Spot silver rose 0.4% to $36.12 per ounce, platinum was up 2.3% at $1,293.90, while palladium gained 2.5% to $1,070.33

  • Gold toilet thief and accomplice convicted!

“This was an audacious raid which had been carefully planned and executed,” prosecutor Shan Saunders said. “But those responsible were not careful enough, leaving a trail of evidence in the form of forensics, CCTV footage and phone data.”

The purloined potty was stolen just days after its installation. It has never been recovered but is believed to have been cut up and sold.

Jones, 39, was convicted of burglary in Oxford Crown Court.

The theft was planned by James Sheen, 40, who previously pleaded guilty to burglary, conspiracy and transferring criminal property.

Doe, 36, also known as Frederick Sines, was convicted of conspiracy to transfer criminal property.

A fourth man charged in the conspiracy, Bora Guccuk, 41, was acquitted by jurors.
