Royal Gold aquired Sanstorm Gold

Sandstorm Gold (NYSE:SAND) +9.5% pre-market Monday after saying Royal Gold (NASDAQ:RGLD) agreed to acquire the company in an all-stock transaction with an implied value of ~$3.5B.

Under the deal terms, Sandstorm (NYSE:SAND) shareholders will receive 0.0625 of a share of Royal Gold (NASDAQ:RGLD) common stock for each Sandstorm share held, a 17% premium to Sandstorm’s closing price on July 3; upon closing, existing Royal Gold and Sandstorm shareholders will own ~77% and 23%, of Royal Gold’s issued and outstanding shares on a fully diluted basis.

    Gold and Silver prove high volatility

    Gold prices have dropped by Rs 3,800 within two days after the US President Donald Trump said he has no plans to fire the US Fed’s chief Jerome Powell and also signalled progress with China on the tariff front.

    The June futures contract for gold closed at Rs 94,722 per 10 grams, down by 2.69 per cent, while the May futures contract for silver closed at Rs 97,799 per kilogram, up by 2 per cent.

    “Gold prices slipped below USD 3,300 per troy ounce levels but there is no change in the long-term fundamentals,” said Manoj Kumar Jain of Prithvifinmart Commodity Research.

  • South African Rand strong

    South Africa’s rand strengthened on Monday, as gold hit a fresh high and optimism grew over the prospect of an agreement between the two biggest government partners on the budget.

    At 0728 GMT, the rand traded at 18.2375 against the dollar, about 1.1% stronger than its previous close.

    Gold prices touched an all-time high on Monday as investors stressing over a global trade war and economic slowdown from the world’s biggest economy turned towards the safe-haven asset. South Africa is a major producer of the precious metal.

    2025 Roosevelt silver will have differences

    While the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential silver medal to be issued sometime this summer by the United States Mint will bear the same obverse and reverse designs as used for a silver medal included in the 2013 Theodore Roosevelt Coin & Chronicles Set, the new issue will have distinct differences.

    The obverse design is the same executed by Chief Engraver Charles E. Barber for the Mint’s 1905 Presidential medal from his second term, with the reverse design by Assistant Mint Engraver George T. Morgan.

    Barrick Gold more than doubles its cash flow

    On Wednesday, ahead of the North American equity market open, Barrick Gold (NYSE: GOLD, TSX: ABX) reported a 69% increase in net earnings to $2.14 billion and a 51% rise in adjusted net earnings to $2.21 billion, significantly beating analyst expectations. The company also noted that its annual operating cash flow in 2024 increased by 20% to $4.49 billion, while free cash flow more than doubled to $1.32 billion.
