Silver futures high 6/5/2025

Silver futures rose as high as $36.27 per troy ounce on Thursday, notching the highest price for the metal since early 2012. Silver futures were last up more than 3% on the day $35.82 per troy ounce.

Silver has been a high performing asset in 2025 and is now up more than 20% year to date. That is still lagging the move in gold, however, which has jumped about 28%.

The EV industry in China and the world is already booming; pumping copper’s status as “the new oil”. As such, the red metal is set to rise above the current uncertainties to record significant gains in the medium to long term.

Copper has also jumped above the 50-day moving average, while the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has continued rising. Therefore, it will likely rebound and retest the key support at $5 in the coming weeks.

An internal document seen by Reuters showed Codelco’s production reached 1.328 million tons in 2024, at the low end of its target range and just about 3,500 tons higher than the quarter-century low in 2023.

The worker, who asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to talk about internal operations, said Codelco has yet to fix bottlenecks in transporting minerals in the mine.
