Copper production up 11%, Antofagasta PLC

Chilean miner Antofagasta said on Wednesday its copper production rose 11% to 314,900 metric tons in the first half of 2025, on higher production from its two concentrators.

The London-listed company left guidance for full-year copper output unchanged between 660,000 and 700,000 tons.

    President Trump inaugural medals being made

    Medalcraft Mint in Green Bay, Wisconsin, is now marketing 2.75-inch (69.85-millimeter) Proof bronze versions and Proof silver versions of the official Donald J. Trump presidential inaugural medal, along with a six-piece process set that illustrates the progression of the striking process for the bronze medals.

    According to Medalcraft sales representative Branden Beyer, the bronze medals are being offered at $75 each, the silver medal at more than $900 depending on the fluctuating daily spot price of silver, and the six-piece process set at $650.

    Gold priced at Rs 9,395

    Gold prices in Lucknow continue to reflect the national upward trend, with 22-karat gold priced at Rs 9,395 per gram and 24-karat (999) gold at Rs 10,248 per gram as of Wednesday. These rates are slightly higher than those in several other major cities, including Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, where 22K gold is priced at Rs 9,380 and 24K gold at Rs 10,233 per gram.

    Gold steady, Platinum at its highest

    Gold prices were little changed on Wednesday as investors waited for the Federal Reserve’s policy decision and comments from Chair Jerome Powell, while platinum surged to a more than four-year peak.

    Spot gold was steady at $3,387.89 an ounce by 1145 a.m. EDT (1545 GMT).

    “The prevailing trend of seeking alternative stores of value beyond the U.S. dollar remains strong, driven by a growing desire for assets that are independent of external control,” said Ryan McIntyre, Managing Partner at Sprott Inc.

    Spot silver fell 1% to $36.87 per ounce

    Platinum added 3.5% to $1,306.68, highest since February 2021.
