SPDR Gold Shares was rallying a sharp 1.6%

“Gold bars are bought as a hedge” against tariff-related downside risks to stocks as well as U.S. and global economic growth, commodity analysts at Citigroup said in a research note on Friday after the U.S. stock market’s close. “In precious metals, we see gold moving higher very near term” to $3,000 per ounce, they wrote.

“Gold has soared to another record high today amid a further ratcheting up in trade tensions,”  said Joe Maher, assistant economist at Capital Economics, in a note Monday. “Concerns that gold may get caught in the trade-war crossfire may also have led U.S. investors to buy up gold in order to get ahead of any future tariffs that might affect U.S. gold imports.”

    Copper price forecast

The EV industry in China and the world is already booming; pumping copper’s status as “the new oil”. As such, the red metal is set to rise above the current uncertainties to record significant gains in the medium to long term.

Copper has also jumped above the 50-day moving average, while the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has continued rising. Therefore, it will likely rebound and retest the key support at $5 in the coming weeks.

  • Gold IRA storage requirements : What you need to know

You know what shocked me when I first started learning about Gold IRAs? Finding out that keeping your IRA gold in a home safe isn’t just inadvisable – it’s actually illegal! Can you believe that! After learning more about precious metals and IRAs, this is a shock.

Yes, the IRS does in fact mandate these storage facilities for IRAs (Individual Retirement Accounts) but specifically for precious metals held in these IRAs.

On the flip side, if you have personal gold investments that are not in retirement accounts, you have much more flexibility in storage options since those assets have already been taxed.

We can’t just bury our gold under the big oak tree southeast of some park no one knows about only you. Even if you do it’s not wise to do so. Its overall a bit of a risk and we have to be mindful of where we put our hard-earned precious metals.

IRS Storage Requirements for Gold IRAs

Let’s start by a short break down of the essential storage requirements that the IRS mandates:

    1. Approved Depository Requirement
    • Must use IRS-approved depositories
    • No personal possession allowed
    • Strict security protocols required
    • Regular audits mandatory
    1. Segregated Storage Options
    • Individual storage (your metals kept separate)
    • Commingled storage (grouped with other investors)
    • Allocated vs. unallocated considerations
    • Different pricing tiers
    1. Location Requirements
    • Must be within U.S. territory
    • Exception: Some international facilities approved
    • State regulations may vary
    • Transportation considerations

    • Same quality guaranteed
    • More facility options
    • Faster liquidation

Texas allow gold and silver as legal tender

Texans are to be allowed to pay with with gold and silver for everyday transactions after Governor Greg Abbott signed House Bill 1056 into law. The law, which was championed by Republican state representative Mark Dorazio, designates the precious metals as legal tender in the state.

Texans will be able to use their gold and silver holdings, stored in the state’s bullion depository, for payments through electronic systems such as mobile apps or debit cards.

The provision comes after legislative debate, and takes effect on May 1, 2027, enabling transactions based on the state comptroller’s valuation of the metals at the time of sale.

    Gold rises with new record

“We could envision a situation where inflation migrates higher, while the economy slows down as the auto sector grinds to a sudden halt, for example,” said Bart Melek, global head of commodity strategy at TD Securities.  “Higher inflation and low rates, and the associated angst with the president’s imposition of tariffs, so uncertainty and risk are helping gold.”

“These tariffs create a strong tailwind for gold,” Bank of Montreal analysts wrote in a note. “Not only because of their inherent inflationary effects but also as the USA’s increasingly hawkish foreign policy may accelerate de-dollarisation plans.”
