President Trump wants to see Fort Knox gold for himself

“We have found hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud so far. And we’ve just started. We’re actually going to Fort Knox to see if the gold is there, because maybe somebody stole the gold. Tons of gold,” Trump said.

“I think the gold is probably there. It’s probably almost certainly there,” David Sacks, Trump’s crypto czar, told Fox News last week, though he still agreed with the president’s calls to investigate the matter.

“Nobody thinks this is a crazy idea to go check because we don’t know,” Sacks added, arguing that “we cannot fully trust that our gold is still in Fort Knox” because of the “corruption” in Washington.

    Gold price predictions

Gold prices are expected to continue being volatile in the near future on the back of uncertainties regarding US President Donald Trump’s tariff policies, the approaching July 9 deadline, possible trade deals, and the fresh threat of additional 10% tariffs on BRICS countries that align with ‘anti-American policies’.

Gold continues to climb, tariffs increase demand

Gold prices rose to a record high on Wednesday on safe-haven demand following U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest tariff threats, while investors awaited minutes of the Federal Reserve’s January policy meeting.

Spot gold surged to an all-time high of $2,946.85/oz earlier in the session and was last down 0.2% at $2,928.88 as the dollar crept higher as of 12:17 pm ET (1714 GMT).

“We are in a state of unusual-heightened uncertainty… the catalyst is the tariffs and trade talks or threats that are going on around the world,” which is supporting the prices, said Paul Wong, market strategist at Sprott Asset Management.

Among other metals, spot silver, used in electrical components, shed 0.7% to $32.64 an ounce, which aims to challenge a 10-year high.

Platinum declined 2.1% to $966.65 and palladium eased 1.9% to $968.43.

Augusta Gold Corp. $1.70 per share

Augusta Gold Corp. (TSX: G) (OTCQB: AUGG) (“Augusta Gold” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a definitive merger agreement (the “Agreement”) with AngloGold Ashanti plc (“AngloGold Ashanti”) and certain of its affiliates, pursuant to which AngloGold Ashanti will acquire all of the Company’s issued and outstanding shares of common stock at a price of C$1.70 per share of common stock (the “Price”) in cash (the “Transaction”).

Richard Warke, Executive Chairman of Augusta Gold, commented, “The offer from AngloGold Ashanti represents a compelling offer to stockholders, locking in a meaningful premium and immediate liquidity as compared to waiting for the Reward Project to commence construction and then produce by mid-2027. Constructing the Reward Project would require additional dilution to raise the required equity, substantial time for construction, and time to get the mine operating at capacity. Taking the foregoing factors into consideration, I believe that the offer from AngloGold Ashanti represents a clearly superior path forward for stockholders.”
