Switzerland gold imports at highest

Gold imports to Switzerland from the United States jumped to the highest monthly level since at least 2012 in April after the exclusion of precious metals from U.S. import tariffs, Swiss customs data showed on Tuesday.

The Swiss data showed that gold imports from the U.S. rose to 63.0 metric tons in April from 25.5 tons in March. It was the highest in monthly data going back to early 2012.

Switzerland’s total gold exports fell by 31% month on month in April with gold deliveries to the U.S. dropping to 12.7 tons from 103.3 tons in March.

    Silver breaks above $33.45

After briefly dipping to $32.66 last week, silver has regained the $33.45 pivot, which now serves as near-term support. The level is seen as a trigger for momentum trades, and a sustained move above it could drive a retest of the recent high at $34.24. A breakout above that zone would open the path toward resistance between $34.87 and $35.40. Conversely, a failure to hold $33.45 could expose the downside to the $32.53–$31.81 retracement range.

Gold prices rise, fears of trade war

“Gold is still benefiting from investors looking for safe-haven assets amid concerns of a tariffs and trade war,” UBS analyst Giovanni Staunovo said.

“We continue to see upside for gold, with the yellow metal expected to rise to $3,000, benefiting also from ongoing central bank demand.”

Spot silver rose 0.3% to $32.24 an ounce after hitting its highest level since October 31 on Friday.

Platinum gained 0.1% to $980.43, and palladium climbed 1.9% to $978.25.

    Gold – Silver ratio 2025

The gold-silver ratio was just over 103:1. That means it takes about 103 ounces of silver to buy an ounce of gold.

This is slightly above the 1991 peak and not too far below the all-time high of 123:1 during the pandemic chaos in 2020.

  • Gold toilet thief and accomplice convicted!

“This was an audacious raid which had been carefully planned and executed,” prosecutor Shan Saunders said. “But those responsible were not careful enough, leaving a trail of evidence in the form of forensics, CCTV footage and phone data.”

Jones, 39, was convicted of burglary in Oxford Crown Court.

The theft was planned by James Sheen, 40, who previously pleaded guilty to burglary, conspiracy and transferring criminal property.

Doe, 36, also known as Frederick Sines, was convicted of conspiracy to transfer criminal property.

A fourth man charged in the conspiracy, Bora Guccuk, 41, was acquitted by jurors.

WOW! Looks like justice was served. I will continue to follow up on jail time. Stealing a gold toilet from Winston Churchills house is bold to say the least. I wonder if the art will be made again after this. We’ll see! – V.

Vizsla Silver shares surge on resource

This is an update on the 5 year project possibly longer.

Shares of Vizsla Silver shot up by 12.0% during the morning session, trading at a near 52-week high of $2.76 apiece.

“This update reflects the excellent mineralized continuity that exists at Copala. Reducing the space between drill holes at Copala to 25 metres has resulted in a significantly higher-grade profile in the upper levels of the resource and PEA mine plan,” Vizsla CEO Michael Konnert said in a statement.

Vizsla Resources expands Napoleon with multiple high-grade intercepts at Panuco project, Mexico

News on this topic from October 2020.

Vizsla President and CEO, Michael Konnert, commented: “Recent drilling continues to grow the Napoleon discovery area where the best new intercepts are from the deepest holes completed.  Mineralization has been extended to the south over 50m and is completely open at depth.  The broad intercepts in NP-20-25 and NP-20-27 as well as the internal high-grade veins increase the possibility of both open pit and underground mining scenarios.  The Company’s aggressive exploration program is targeting three vein corridors in the district and it is exciting to see the benefit of systematic drilling around our multiple discoveries, particularly the addition of significantly more mineralization at Napoleon.”

Presidential dollars and First Spouse gold coins legislation extension

A flurry of legislative activity in both chambers of Congress in February includes more than a half dozen bills, one of which seeks an extension of production of Presidential dollars and First Spouse gold coins.

    S. 633, introduced Feb. 19 by Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nevada, seeks to extend the Presidential dollar and First Spouse gold coin series to include deceased presidents and their spouses not yet honored.

Jimmy Carter Presidential dollars would be authorized to be struck with a circulation finish in bags and rolls offered for sale from the Denver and Philadelphia Mints, and Uncirculated finish versions from both production facilities and Proof coins from the San Francisco Mint.

For the First Spouse gold coins, Proof and Uncirculated versions would be produced as numismatic products at the West Point Mint bearing the facility’s W Mint mark.
