Sterling Metals Maiden Exploration Program Delivers Multiple New Drill-Ready Copper Targets Following Successful 3D IP Survey at Copper Road

This survey covered an expansive 5km by 3km area in the center of the Project, successfully pinpointing multiple high-priority, drill-ready targets. These findings are significant, highlighting both the potential of the near surface target zones as well as the Project’s capacity to host a large-scale copper porphyry mineral system at depth

Jeremy Niemi, SVP Exploration and Evaluation, commented, “We are very happy with how our maiden exploration season has advanced at the Copper Road Project. We took a very purposeful approach to develop geologically rich evidence for a large-scale copper porphyry mineral system and to identify targets that have the potential to host significant volumes of copper and molybdenum. In just eight months, we have achieved this and set the stage for drilling very exciting targets.”

The primary objective of the survey was to identify sizeable chargeable anomalies within the priority area of the Project.

WGC gold EFT inflows at an all-time peak

Bullion-backed exchange traded funds (ETFs) reported returning net inflows last month, meaning half-year flows reached levels not seen for five years, data from the World Gold Council (WGC) showed.

Total holdings rose by 75 tonnes last month, the WGC said, to 3,616 tonnes. This was the highest for 34 months.

Inflows were valued at $7.6 billion, which in turn drove cumulative assets under management (AUMs) to $382.8 billion an all-time peak.

The WGC said that “North America accounted for the bulk of inflows, recording the strongest first half in five years.” It added that “despite slowing momentum in May and June, Asian investors bought a record amount of gold ETFs during the first half, contributing an impressive 28% to net global flows with only 9% of the world’s total AUMs.”

  • Mining in Peru suspended

Mining in Peru’s northern district of Pataz will be suspended for 30 days, President Dina Boluarte said on Monday, after 13 gold mine workers in the area were kidnapped and killed by illegal miners.

On Sunday, miner Poderosa said the bodies of 13 workers from a local firm, R&R, which held a mining contract with Poderosa, had been recovered by police after they were kidnapped last month.

“The armed forces will take control of the area where Poderosa operates,” Boluarte said, but did not provide details on how the mining pause would work.

Peru is the world’s third-largest copper producer, but the deposits of the red metal are largely in the south. Gold and silver are mined in the north.

Jorge Montoro, said the 30-day pause could be extended.
